I thought you were going to apply the insights gleaned from horse-whispering to human behaviour. And I suppose, in a way, you did. Not, as I thought by highlighting any correlation between the body language of human beings and horses, but in showing us how shallow we are when we latch on to trendy lingo in the hope that it will make us look good.

Thank you Fran, and please do use it. I wanted to add that there is one thing I would strongly criticise about the Kony campaign thus far: one of their slogans is 'Stop at Nothing'. This leaves far too much room for violence in my opinion. I just wanted that on the record.

It fascinates me, too, how social media can rapidly spread a campaign like this and then, just as rapidly, those who wish to mock or parody it can do so. Did you see the thing about Angelina Jolie's leg last week? There was an interesting feature on the BBC website about all the satire produced because of it. Anyway, there are Kony posters up at my school already .. the kids have got onto it very quickly. Another quality article, Rob. Always an intelligent read. Am going to use your previous one (and maybe this one?) when I do 'Language and Power' with the A level students which will be in a couple of weeks. We're currently on 'Language and Gender' - also an interesting topic!
